I’ve noticed several readers of this blog have been searching the Internet for news of the Tiny Toes children’s boutique in Bel Air. The store front has been covered with paper the past few months with only a sign indicating that Tiny Toes (4 N. Main St.) was coming. Now it’s open. Store owners Tina Lewis and Karen Jacobs are bringing upscale sophisticated duds to Main Street for Bel Air’s tots. Currently they’re offering cute fall fashions for boys and girls from infant to size 4T. But come next season, they plan to include sizes up to 7. This stuff is not your typical mall fare. Tiny Toes has white fur vests for little girls and paisley bell bottom pants. Their diaper bags are stylish as mod purses with funky black circles on a taupe background. I loved their black baby crib decked out in bright yellow bedding. A teenage shopper was testing the softness of the furry baby blankets by rubbing them against her cheek. They had a sweet Christening outfit with pleated knickers for a baby boy. It hung on an armoire with a mirrored door that would look so cute in a little girl’s room. This is one of the few places where you can find clothes for boys that go beyond trucks and dinosaurs. Tiny Toes has sweaters featuring puppy dog faces, plaid pants and fleece coats. The store plans to stay open tonight until 8 p.m. along with a number of other Main Street businesses who participate in Downtown Bel Air’s First Fridays event, which includes the movie “Dreamer” to be shown in Shamrock Park as soon as the sun sets. Other stores I hit today (which also plan to stay open late tonight) had lots of deals on their summer merchandise. My mother got great deals on a stone garden frog and a ceramic condiment set of bluebirds and tree limbs from Accessorize by Design at 100 S. Main Street (www.accessorizebydesign.com). She bought me a cute lime colored and canvas purse lined with black and white gingham from Tiger Lily, 52 N. Main Street. I’m so lucky. Heartbeat (13 N. Main St.) and Pink Silhouette (20 E. Lee St.) are other new fashion hot spots that plan to be open late tonight. Heartbeat is running a promotion through tomorrow where you can trade in any old purse you have and they’ll donate it to Anna’s House and give you a discount on a new bag from their Brighton or Hobo line.
