Kappus Family brings Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to Forest Hill

A Forest Hill family wants every preschooler in their 21050 zip code to receive a free book every month until they’re ready for kindergarten. Carolanne Kappus and her husband Mark (of Kappus Construction) established the non-profit Sweet Pea Foundation in order to bring Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to Forest Hill. Carolanne says her sister in Tennessee told her about the program, and Carolanne made it her mission to raise the money she needs to bring it here. If you want your child to get a free book from Imagination Library each month, all you have to do is register. You can do that online (click here) or you can pick up a registration form that Carolanne says she’ll put in Forest Hill businesses. But she needs donations to keep the program going. She has the following fundraisers planned:

A fundraiser at Milburn Orchards Fall Fun Days, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 20 & 21 and Sept. 27 & 28. Admission is $8, $4 for seniors and free for children 2 and under. Attractions include: Hay rides, Corn Maze, Boo Barn, Barnyard Buddy petting zoo, family oriented activities & the Farmyard Playground. Address: 1495 Appleton Road, Elkton, MD 21921 410-398-1349 www.milburnorchards.com

A quarter auction scheduled Oct. 16 16th at the Moose Lodge in Forest Hill will also benefit The Sweet Pea Foundation.
