Public meetings on Harford County Schools superintendent search scheduled tonight and tomorrow


    If you’d like to have a say in the Harford County school district’s search for a new superintendent, public meetings on the subject are scheduled for tonight and tomorrow. Tonight’s meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. at Fallston High School, 2301 Carrs Mill Road. Tomorrow’s is at the same time at Havre de Grace High School, 700 Congress Ave.

    Working in conjunction with the Maryland Association of Boards of Education (MABE), the Board of Education of Harford County has established the timeline and action steps leading to the appointment of a new Superintendent. The target date for hiring the new Superintendent is July 1, 2009, in accordance with MD law. Parents and other interested community members are invited and encouraged to participate in community meetings to provide guidance to the Board in establishing criteria for their search.
    Two Parent/Community Focus Group sessions will be held:
    – Tuesday, January 27th, Fallston High, 7:30 – 8:30 p.m.
    – Wednesday, January 28th, Havre de Grace High, 7:30 – 8:30 p.m.

    Additional focus group meetings will also be scheduled on those two dates (1/27 and 1/28) for stakeholder groups including Elected/Government Officials, Community Leaders, HCPS Senior Staff, Employee Association Leadership, Media, Students, Teachers, Support Staff, Principals, and Central Office Staff.  The schedule for those sessions will be announced as soon as it is available.
