Bel Air lost a Cheeburger but it looks like we’re gaining some cannolis

A reader (thank you!) alerted me that the Cheeburger Cheeburger restaurant in the Festival Shopping Center had closed. The Cheeburger Cheeburger franchise in Hunt Valley Towne Center shut down as well as one in Perry Hall (thanks, Ruttopia for the heads up.)

But while we may have lost some burgers, it looks like we’ll be gaining more dessert options. Another reader (thank you!) told me Little Italy’s long-time dessert destination Vaccaro’s has its eye on putting its cannolis and tiramisu in the empty storefront next to Zak’s Hot Dogs in the new addition to the Harford Mall. The mall’s website indicates the store is planned for the space as does a sign hanging in the window. Earlier this year, it looked as though a Maggie Moo’s was planned for that space. But it now appears it will go to a local company that’s not afraid to expand in a recession. The sign hanging in the mall storefront window says Vaccaro’s is scheduled to open in the Harford Mall late the spring.
