The Red Pump/Campus Hills Elementary school tug-of-war between county and school officials continues

This just keeps getting more confusing….

It appears that the tug-of-war between county and school officials continues with today’s post in The Dagger indicating:

“Interim Superintendent Patricia L. Skebeck is expected to recommend that the Harford County Board of Education remove $10 million in county fund appropriations from the planned Red Pump Elementary School project and transfer those appropriations to fund Campus Hills Elementary School instead.”

(Update 4/21: The Dagger Press reports that the board did approve the transfer of $10 million in county fund appropriations from Red Pump school to Campus Hills at Monday’s meeting.)

Last month, The Aegis reported that the next school to be built would be the Campus Hills Elementary School over near Harford Community College. That news came out of a March 23 meeting between representatives of the Harford County Council (which favors the Red Pump site) and the Harford County Board of Education (which favors the Campus Hills site.)

But tonight, The Dagger says the school board is expected to vote on Skebeck’s recommendation to transfer funding from Red Pump to Campus Hills, citing Harford County Executive David Craig’s proposed FY 2010 budget, which included funding for Campus Hills. However, The Dagger reports that Craig has said he would be changing his proposed budget to reflect the Harford County Council’s intention that the Campus Hill project go forward first.
