Havre de Grace Independence Day celebration starts Wednesday with the Carnival at Tydings Park; parade & fireworks on July 5


    Independence Day celebrations begin tomorrow in Havre de Grace. The Carnival at Tydings Park starts Wednesday, July 1). The carnival is open 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. through Friday, July 3 and from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sat. & Sun. Cost is $20 to ride all rides Wed-Sat.

    Then on Friday, July 3, Havre de Grace Main Street, Inc. celebrates its Friday Event from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The theme is “Military Appreciation Day” with live music featuring Beaucoup Blue, children’s activities, Main Street Expo, stores open late. For more information call 410-939-1811.

    Havre de Grace’s parade and fireworks are to be held on Sunday, July 5. The parade on Union Avenue starts at 2 p.m. Spectators can start saving themselves a space along the parade route by lying a blanket down starting at 8 a.m. Sunday. The American Legion Post 47 Joseph L. Davis will head the parade with their American Legion Post 47 Honor Guard. Food and beverages are available before and after the parade – picnic style – at the post at 501 St. John St. 
    A concert is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the City Yacht Basin (just below Tydings Park) just before the fireworks.
