Moores Mill Road closed yet again

It looks like I spoke too soon. My open-again-closed-again, round-about relationship with Moores Mill Road is closed yet again! I rejoiced upon hearing the news last week that my thoroughfare from Rte. 924 through to Rte. 22 and all the pleasures north of there — Broom’s Bloom ice cream, Harford Community College, Churchville Golf— had opened again with a round-about neatly installed near the Southampton Middle School. Now, I’m not a big fan of round-abouts. All those little ones that dot Tollgate Road between the Abingdon Wal-Mart and the Abingdon library make me dizzy. But to think my Moores Mill Road passageway across town had reopened, was great news. Now, it appears, it is closed for another two months for culvert work. Click here to read about it in The Aegis. I believe part of it will remain open — the portion between Southampton Road and Broadway. Click here to read an Aegis story on the round-about. I think it’s the part near the school, according to a post I saw on The Dagger Press. Officials wanted to open that up before the school year started. But it looks like it will still be some time before we can use Moores Mill Road as a cross-town thoroughfare.

If anyone drives that way, feel free to leave a comment about what you think of the new traffic pattern. Thanks!
