Bel Air loses two restaurants, gains a Dillweed’s Gourmet Kitchen & Cafe

Bel Air recently lost both The Greene Turtle on Main Street and the nearby as Thomas Street Cafe, which closed about a month ago. However, a replacement for the Thomas Street Cafe is already preparing to move in at 111 Thomas Street, according to a story in this morning’s Aegis. The Towson-based Dillweed’s Gourmet Kitchen & Cafe will be coming to that spot in December according to the company’s website. Dillweed’s is to offer sandwiches, salads, burgers, wraps and breakfast. It will be open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and offer some outdoor seating. Dave Redmond and his wife Lisa own Dillweed’s and will partner with Dan DeMaso to run their Bel Air location. The Aegis reports that the Thomas Street Cafe owners had said this past summer they’d seen a 40 to 50 percent drop in business after the Harford County government laid off a portion of its nearby workforce. Here’s hoping Dillweed’s can thrive despite the government downturn.
