Update 1/21: Uh-oh. Not only is our Bel Air Unos closed, but its parent company, Massachusetts-based Uno Restaurant Holdings Corp., filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection yesterday, according to a press release on the restaurant chain’s website. Click here to read a story in the Chicago Tribune about the bankruptcy.
It looks like Bel Air is minus our Unos. Several BANV readers (thank you!) have forwarded me this e-mail (see below) they received from the Pizzeria Uno Corporation informing them that the Uno Chicago Grill at 601 Baltimore Pike has closed. It looks like the Unos at Harborplace will be the closest one now. I used to love Unos, back in the ’90s. But I haven’t been there for ages. I suppose that was part of the problem. It’s such a shame to have another big empty shell of a store in the Tollgate plaza. It’s starting to look like a bit of a ghost town. Let’s hope those stores don’t stay empty long enough to become haunted.
