Fallston to get a grocery store and a McDonald’s at the corner of Routes 1 and 152

If you saw that development notice posted at the empty lot on the corner of Routes 1 and 152 in Fallston, a story in today’s Aegis explains what’s going in there. It’s to be a retail park to be called Aumar Village that will feature a McDonald’s, a 250-seat sit-down restaurant, a pharmacy, a bank, a grocery store and another 7,000 square-feet of retail space. At a Harford County Development Advisory Committee meeting this week where site plans for the development were reviewed, area residents expressed concerns about increased traffic, particularly during morning and evening rush hours. Residents also were concerned about the development’s impact on a tributary of the Little Gunpowder Falls called Wildcat Branch, which runs parallel to Route 1 and drains into the Aumar Village property. The next step for the planned development is an April 6 public hearing before the Harford County Council where the water and sewer plan is to be updated. The Aegis story said the development’s water and sewer plan needs to be revised to include three of the development’s lots that currently sit outside Fallston’s sanitary sub-district.
