School is not quite out yet, but it’s already time to starting getting ready for the area’s Independence Day parades.
I just got a note from the organizers of the Edgewood/Joppatowne Independence Day Parade Committee saying they’re looking for people interested in marching in their parade, sponsoring a band or making a donation to support the parade. Their 3rd annual parade starts at 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 3rd. The route is Joppa Farm Road from Shore Drive to Joppatowne High School. For information on how to participate, visit the organizer’s new website at www.edgewoodjoppatowneparade.org. You can also follow them on Facebook and Twitter.
The Bel Air Independence Day Committee’s parade down Main Street is scheduled at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 4. The big news this year is that the flag raising and pancake breakfast will be back home at the new Bel Air High School, after having been held elsewhere during the school’s construction. Other events are spread around town, as they have been in past years. Click here for a list of where the events will be held: http://www.belairjuly4.org/innerpages/nextyear.html. The fireworks are to be launched from Rockfield Park again. Click here to see a map: http://www.belairjuly4.org/innerpages/mapfireworks2008.html.
