School supplies are already on sale. Buy early and donate some to Chesapeake Mommies school supply drive for needy children this summer

At Target yesterday, I saw they already had school supplies in the aisles and Back-to-School posters hanging from the ceilings. The first day of school in Harford County (Aug. 30) is still about seven weeks away, but the Chesapeake Mommies group is holding an event that can put those early school supply purchases to good use. The local moms’ group is collecting school supplies for needy children throughout the summer. They’ll be collecting at the Outdoor Movies at Shamrock Park tomorrow night and again on July 23. They’ll also be collecting at their “Fill a Van with School Supplies” play date July 19th at Tydings Park from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

If you’d like to help support the Chesapeake Mommies group, eat at Friendly’s in Bel Air between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. July 29. Ten percent of the night’s sales will go to support Chesapeake Mommmies.

In other Chespeake Mommies news, the group raised more than $200 for Cookies for Kids Cancer at their fundraiser June 26. Thanks for donating!
