Clothes and shoes costing less than $100 are tax-free in Maryland this week

This is a good week to buy those back-to-school clothes and shoes. No sales tax will be charged on clothes and shoes costing less than $100 that are purchased between  Aug. 8 and Aug. 15. The 6-percent tax will be waived on each item that is less than $100 even if the total cost of items purchased exceeds $100. The sales tax free week will be an annual event each August according to a state law passed in 2007.
