Come and join us Saturday morning, for a casual “come and go” style event, with light refreshments and lots of fun from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at 53 E. Bel Air Avenue, Aberdeen. We will do some Christmas shopping with a few of our favorite vendors – all proceeds going to support Harford Family House homeless shelter! There will be door prizes, etc. and afterward, we will be giving tours of the shelter to everyone who is interested to learn more about what we do and how we are able to serve families in need in our community. You will also have an opportunity to talk with some of the staff and other volunteers that can answer any questions you might have. 🙂
***If you find that you are unable to attend, please contact me at: AnneMarie.SharingHope@yahoo.com or 410-688-3478 and I will be sure to give you the links of all of our participating vendors so you can do some shopping and the proceeds will still go to the shelter! Thank you!

Heather L. Hurd 5K Walk/Run

Harford Community College is honored to be sponsoring the Second Annual Heather L. Hurd 5K Walk/Run on Saturday, November 20, in conjunction with World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims. The event honors the memory of Heather L. Hurd, a former Harford Community College student who was killed in a traffic accident in 2008. On-site registration will take place in the College’s Susquehanna Center from 7 to 7:45 AM; the event begins at 8 AM. Pre-registration and sponsor forms are available at www.harford.edu/heather. The Hurd family wants to raise awareness and to remember the hundreds of victims who are tragically killed on Maryland roads each year, to highlight the potential for preventing road traffic collisions, to acknowledge the work of the fire, police, and ambulance personnel, and to raise awareness of the impact that traffic collisions have on families and society. “In her all too short life, our daughter Heather always thirsted for knowledge. She loved learning, and she loved being a student at Harford Community College. She was living a lifelong dream of working at Walt Disney World when she was tragically taken from us. Her love of learning made the decision easy to leave an endowment in her name. We hope that this endowment and the scholarships it will support will keep the spirit of our Heather alive forever in the minds of the young people who attend this wonderful institution. We believe that despite a life cut tragically short, our Heather has left something very good behind so that others too may live their dreams.” ~ Family of Heather Hurd Walkers and runners are asked to solicit at least 10 sponsors OR pay an entrance fee of $20. The fee is $10 for children under 18 with a registered adult. All proceeds will be used for a new Harford Community College Remembrance Book Scholarship to honor and remember those who have lost their lives in preventable highway accidents each year. For more information, visit www.harford.edu/heather or call 443-412-2449.
