Bel Air professional angler John H. Hansen of Mobile Auto Service just sent along his standings in the 2011 BassMasters tournament on Lake Tohopekaliga in Kissimmee, Fla. In a field of 197 boats, John placed 65th overall. Congratulations, John! This was his second BassMasters tournament. He competed in his first BassMasters tournament last September when it was held here on the Chesapeake Bay. I’m going to give you the details just as he gave them to me as they come full of fishing terms that will make sense to the anglers out there:
Bel Air professional angler John H. Hansen III fished the 2011 BassMasters tournament on Lake Tohopekaliga in Kissimmee, FL. This is the 2nd BassMaster event for John; the 1st being right here on the Chesapeake Bay last September. John traveled to Kissimmee on Saturday January 15, 2011 for pre-fishing. The tournament commenced Thursday, January 20, 2011 and continued through the Saturday the 22nd. On Day 1, John fished hydrilla and looked for spawning bass. His success came on a 5” green pumpkin fluke and a rattletrap bringing in his 5 fish limit to weigh-in of 7lbs 8oz. On Day 2, John went back to the same place and began throwing a rattletrap but a cold front came in and shut the fish down. He put on a weightless fluke and fished it extremely slow to get another 5 fish limit including a 5lb. bass. Day 2’s weigh-in was 11lbs 6oz. John fished against elite anglers such as Roland Martin, Bobby Lane and Ott Defoe. In a field of 197 boats, John placed 65th overall.
