Students arriving at Abingdon Elementary School for today’s weather-related late opening this morning, encountered yet another disruption from their routine when a car caught fire in the school’s Singer Road lot. No one was hurt in the incident, but since it occurred just as buses and walkers were arriving at about 10:30 a.m., they were redirected from their usual routes into the school and entered through a media center door, said Teri Kranefeld, Harford County Public Schools Manager of Communications. The Abingdon Fire Company equipment and smoke from the fire made a bit a of a scene, but everyone got into school safely and the school day was able to continue as planned. Kranefeld told me the principal will be sending a letter home with students tonight to explain the source of this morning’s disruption.
(Thanks for the heads up, Bob!)
