16 year old Bel Air Teen Arrested for Killing Father
(Bel Air, MD – January 10, 2012) Robert C. Richardson III, age 16, of the 800 block of Moores Mill Road in Bel Air MD has been charged with Murder 1st Degree, Murder 2nd Degree, and Handgun Use in the Commission of a Felony/Violent Crime, in the death of his father, Robert C. Richarson Jr., age 58, of the same address.
At approximately 10:45pm on Monday, January 9, 2012, Harford County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence in the 800 block of Moores Mill Road for a report of a domestic disturbance, possibly involving a weapon.
Upon arrival to the residence, Harford County Sheriff’s Office deputies observed blood on the ground outside of the residence. Deputies made entrance into the residence and were able to determine that someone had possibly been shot. Patrol deputies investigating the incident were also able to determine that the 16 year old male, Richardson III, had left the 800 block of Moores Mill Road in the family vehicle, a 1991 Chevy S10 Blazer. After learning this information, deputies at the location provided a look out for the vehicle and broadcast it to surrounding agencies.
At approximately 6:00am on Tuesday, January 10, 2012, the vehicle was spotted by a Maryland State Trooper near the intersection of Route 24 and E. Jarrettsville Road. As the officer approached the vehicle, it accelerated away, heading southbound on Route 24. Law enforcement officers from Harford County Sheriff’s Office, Bel Air Police Department, and Maryland State Police pursued. The Blazer crashed into a cinderblock wall after turning into the parking lot of Bel Air United Methodist Church located at the corner of Linwood Avenue and Route 924. The suspect, Richardson III, fled the vehicle on foot. He was taken into custody in a Bel Air community located directly behind the church. No one was injured during the pursuit.
Investigation revealed that earlier in the evening, after killing his father, Richardson III, left his home in Bel Air and drove to a relative’s house in the 800 block of Gilbert Road in Aberdeen, MD to dispose of his father’s body. The deceased, Robert Conley Richardson Jr, age 58, was located by Harford County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies partially submerged in a body of water behind a relative’s residence.
Robert C Richardson, age 16, of the 800 block of Moores Mill Road in Bel Air, MD has been charged with Murder 1st Degree, Murder 2nd Degree, and Handgun Use in the Commission of a Felony/Violent Crime. He is being held at the Harford County Detention Center awaiting an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
