The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd sent along this news that Rev. Jeanne Madsen is to be installed as the church’s Senior Pastor this Sunday. Here are the details:

 

The Rev. Jeanne Madsen to be installed Sept. 23 as Senior Pastor of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Bel Air

The Rev. Jeanne Madsen will be installed as Senior Pastor of The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 1515 Emmorton Road, Bel Air, on Sunday, Sept. 23 at 3:30 p.m. A light reception will follow the installation service.

 

Delaware-Maryland Synod Bishop Wolfgang D. Herz-Lane will preach. The Rev. Christine Parker, Dean of the synod’s Harford Conference and Pastor of Lord of Life Lutheran Church, Edgewood, will preside at the service and install Pastor Jeanne. Good Shepherd is the largest Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) congregation in Harford County, and will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2013.

 

Due to the 3:30 p.m. installation service, there will be only one morning service at Good Shepherd on Sept. 23, at 10 a.m. There will be no Sunday school or adult FED Hour that day.

 

Pastor Jeanne began serving at Good Shepherd in February. The fifth senior pastor of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Pastor Jeanne was called by the congregation on Dec. 11, 2011.

 

A native of Blooming Prairie, Minn. and a lifelong Lutheran, Pastor Jeanne holds a Master of Divinity from Luther Seminary and has been pursuing a ph.D. in congregational leadership in her spare time. She was ordained in 1997, and has served as the pastor of congregations in Minnesota, Alaska, Nebraska and North Dakota. She is a member of a leadership group that helps guide congregations, and has served both Lutheran and Episcopal congregations.

 

A graduate of St. Olaf College, Pastor Jeanne served as a congregation youth director for 13 years before entering seminary. Her gifts and passions include youth and family ministry, recruiting and equipping leaders, evangelism and mission, and building a sense of community.
