Karen Blandford is to start as the new Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity Susquehanna, Inc. on Dec. 10, filling the role vacated by Joann Blewett. The public is invited to meet the new director from 5:30pm-7:30pm Jan. 16 at Habitat Susquehanna’s Second Annual Community Builders’ Celebration at Mountain Christian Church in Joppa. Habitat for Humanity Susquehanna announces Karen Blandford as its new Executive Director
Bel Air, MD —Habitat for Humanity Susquehanna, Inc. (HHS) is pleased to announce Karen Blandford as its new Executive Director. Ms. Blandford was unanimously approved by the Board of Directors to take the helm of the organization after a competitive selection process. Ms. Blandford will begin her tenure on December 10, 2012. She will be filling the vacancy left by Joann Blewett, who served as Executive Director for ten years, facilitating the growth and merger of Harford Habitat to Habitat Susquehanna.
Ms. Blandford has worked for over 25 years in the housing sector, and brings to HHS a vast knowledge of non-profit management, community outreach, and fundraising. Most recently, she served as Network Consultant for Maryland Asset Building and Community Development Network in Westminster, Maryland. Ms. Blandford is eager to begin her work at HHS, saying, “Habitat for Humanity Susquehanna is a strong organization, with an excellent staff and board. The work they do in the community is important, and makes a difference for the families they help, and the communities they serve. I am proud to be joining their team of staff and volunteers.”
