Things to do this weekend around Bel Air include two holiday home tours: the Candlelight Tour of Homes in Havre de Grace and the AMC Annual Holiday House Tour, the Susquehanna Symphony Orchestra performance of “Mozart & Tchaikovsky – Jazzed Up for the Holidays” and the 3rd annual public Hannukah Celebration and Outdoor Menorah lighting Sunday at the Bel Air Armory.

HCPS Superintendent’s Budget Hearing, Dec. 6

Superintendent of Schools Robert M. Tomback will hold a budget hearing on Thursday, December 6, at 5:30 p.m. in the assembly room of the Center for Educational Opportunity (253 Paradise Road, Aberdeen). The hearing will include a brief presentation on the process and timeline used to develop the school system budget.  The Superintendent’s FY14 Operating Budget has not yet been developed.  The public is invited to attend to provide input and share what they feel is important for consideration as the Superintendent begins to prepare his proposed operating budget for the 2013-14 school year. Those who are not able to attend are encouraged to submit suggestions and comments to Budget@hcps.org. Friday, Dec. 7

Deadline for applications to HCPS magnet programs, Dec. 7

Eighth grade students are reminded that all HCPS magnet programs are currently accepting applications for the 2013-2014 school year.   The magnet programs are Harford Technical High School, the Science and Mathematics Academy, the Global Studies/International Baccalaureate Program, and the Natural Resources and Agricultural Sciences Program.  The application deadline is Friday, December 7, 2012.  Visit www.hcps.org for more information about the programs and to submit an application.

Bel Air Honda to host Blood Drive, Dec. 7

Bel Air News & Views sponor Bel Air Honda is hosting a blood drive to help victims of Hurricane Sandy on Friday, Dec. 7. The drive will be held noon to 6 p.m. at the dealership at 1800 Belair Rd. The Phoenix Festival Theater presents “Babes in Toyland” at the Chesapeake Theater at Harford Community College Thursday through Sunday.
