(Harford County, MD) Towson University graduate, APG Garrison Commander, and Boys and Girls Club Alum Colonel Gregory McClinton will deliver the keynote speech at the Club’s 23rd Annual Steak & Burger Dinner on March 27, 2013. The annual event honors the finalists of the Youth of the Year competition from each of the four clubs and awards the winner a $1,000 scholarship and other prizes.

COL McClinton’s military career has led him around the world serving in various leadership positions in Alaska, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. COL McClinton earned a BA, in Marketing, from Towson State University, a MS in Computer Resources and Information Management from Webster University and a MS in National Research Strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, National Defense University. His exemplary military career and dedication to education make him a perfect role model to Club kids personifying our mission that “Great Futures Start Here.”

The Steak & Burger Dinner is a time-honored tradition for the Boys & Girls Club. While the event is a fundraiser, it is designed to honor Club members, and engage supporters of our organization with the young people who benefit from their generosity. During the event, while all attendees gain inspiration from the keynote speaker, adults dine on finely prepared burgers while Club members are honored with special steak dinners.

The evening is also a celebration of the many accomplishments of the youth at the Harford County Clubs in Aberdeen, Bel Air, Edgewood and Havre de Grace and the naming of the 2013 Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County Youth of the Year, the highest honor a Club member can receive. The title recognizes outstanding contributions to a member’s family, school, community, and local Club, as well as triumphing over personal challenges or obstacles. The Youth of the Year will receive a $1,000 scholarship from the organization.

Sarah Caldwell, morning traffic reporter and noon news anchor for WBAL-TV 11, will MC the event presented at the New Life Center at Mt. Christian Church in Joppa, Maryland.

Seating is limited; over 500 people attended last year’s event. Individuals can purchase tickets for $50.00 or participate as a table sponsor for $500.00. Additional sponsorship opportunities are available online at www.bgcharfordco.org or by calling 410-272-0010.
