Under Armour Baltimore Running Festival, Oct. 12

TOWSON, Md. –Maryland CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) Association is recruiting runners and walkers for its charity team, Team CASA, which will participate in the Under Armour® Baltimore Running Festival, Saturday, Oct. 12, at M&T Bank Stadium.

This will mark the child advocacy organization’s fifth year participating in the citywide running event.  New this year, will be the opportunity to participate in corporate teams.

All Team CASA members will have the opportunity to walk or run in the marathon, half marathon, 5K or team relay to raise funds and awareness about Maryland CASA’s efforts on behalf of victims of child abuse and neglect.

Today in Maryland, more than 10,000 children are under the protection of the courts as a result of abuse and neglect. Most live in temporary foster homes and institutions, where they wait an average of three years before reaching safe, permanent homes.

“By joining or supporting Team CASA, you can help close the gap by raising money to recruit more trained, committed advocates to ensure every child in Maryland their right to a safe, permanent home,” said Ed Kilcullen, Maryland CASA state director.

Top fundraisers on Team CASA, as well as those who reach designated fundraising levels will receive prizes, including hotel stays in Ocean City, Annapolis and Baltimore, and restaurant gift cards.

In addition to walkers and runners, Team CASA, also needs volunteers to help plan the event, secure sponsors and help out at the race.

Funds raised by Team CASA will support efforts to recruit more volunteers to advocate for Maryland’s foster children. For more information or to register, visit www.GoTeamCASA.org, email Kay@marylandcasa.org or call 410.828.6761.
