Jerusalem Mill Village awakens the past during Colonial event
Kingsville, MD—Don’t miss the 19th annual Colonial Craftsmen Weekend at historic Jerusalem Mill Village! This exciting encampment and market fair happens in the Kingsville area of Gunpowder Falls State Park on Saturday, October 12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, October 13 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hosted by the Friends of Jerusalem Mill, the event re-creates public market days in a rural village in the last quarter of the 18th century. Artisans and reenactors will be demonstrating trades, crafts, clothes, and customs of the time, and merchants will be offering a variety of goods for sale. This year’s event also features Jerusalem Mill’s first Blacksmithing Days exhibition in the Meadow alongside the blacksmith shop.
Visitors will enjoy wandering through camp, talking with crafters and living history interpreters, shopping at the merchants’ tents, listening to traditional live music, touring the historic buildings, and more. Children will have a great time playing in Kids Kamp, a hands-on-history experience with the way farm and domestic chores were done in the days before plumbing and electric motors. There will also be a variety of kid-sized craft activities and games.
Food will be for sale by Kingsville Station, Kilby Cream, and Sweet as You.
Admission each day is $7.00 for adults, and $5 for children ages 6-16, seniors age 60+, and active duty military with ID. The special family rate for 2 adults with 3 or more children is $25. Admission for children ages 5 and under is free. Pets are not permitted on site during this event.
Once a thriving Quaker settlement in the 18th and 19th centuries, Jerusalem Mill Village is now a year-round Living History destination. You can learn more at www.jerusalemmill.org.
