Fallston Community Pre-K Open House, Oct. 24

“Cancer Bites and We Bite Back” Harford County Bull Roast to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Oct. 25

Tickets are still available for the “Cancer Bites and We Bite Back” Harford County Bull Roast to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society from 8 p.m to midnight Oct. 25 at the Richlin Ballroom, 1700 Van Bibber Road in Edgewood. Hawks Hill Creamery’s 2013 Pumpkin Fest continues every Saturday and Sunday in October at the farm at 805 Highland Road in Street. Ghost Hunt & Campfire Stories at Historic Elk Landing, Oct. 26

Ghost Hunt & Campfire Stories from 4 p.m. to midnight at Historic Elk Landing, 590 Landing Lane in Elkton. Admission is $5 for ages 12 and older and $3 for children under 12. This years program will take about an hour to complete. The first part of the program will consist of sitting around the campfire (while sipping free hot chocolate) and listening to ghost stories from the past and present. The second part of the program will be a hands on ghost hunt in the Hollingsworth House located on the property. In the event of rain, the ghost stories will be told in the old Stone House, also located on the property.You may purchase tickets starting at 3:P.M. on the day of the event. HCPS Hall of Fame to induct Mary Ellen Kennedy and Thomas Macklin Trafton, Oct. 28

The HCPS Hall of Fame recognition program, sponsored by the Harford County Retired School Personnel Association and the Board of Education of Harford County, has been refreshed this year!  Retired educators will now be inducted into the Hall of Fame at one of two ceremonies held during the year – one in the early fall and the second in early summer.  Up to three educators will be included in each ceremony, and the Hall of Fame induction will be the only recognition scheduled that evening.  The first ceremony of 2013-14 will be during the Monday, October 28 Board of Education meeting, at 6:30 p.m.  We will be honoring Mary Ellen Kennedy and Thomas Macklin Trafton for dedicating 31 and 30 outstanding years to HCPS, respectively.  Mark your calendars to attend the Board meeting to support our newest inductees!  Please share this information with others who may be interested in attending or who may want to offer congratulations to Ms. Kennedy and Mr. Trafton.  If you would like to nominate a retired educator for consideration for induction in the Hall of Fame, please access the nomination form and requirements.

The 2nd Annual Downtown Bel Air Music Fest is noon to 6 p.m. Nov. 2 at Rockfield Manor, 501 E Churchville Rd.  Bel Air. Tickets are $10 per person. Kids 12 and under are free. Growing Smiles pediatric dentist to buy back children’s candy Nov. 2 to send it to U.S. Troops

Pediatric dental office Growing Smiles is offering to buy-back children’s Halloween candy in order to ship it to Operation Gratitude in California where it will be included in care packages for service men and women stationed overseas. The buy-back will take place from noon to 2 p.m. Nov. 2 at Growing Smiles, 2012 Tollgate Road, Suite 212, Bel Air. The Fifth Annual Heather L. Hurd 5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Walk takes place at Harford Community College Saturday, November 9, at 9 a.m. The race honors the memory of Heather L.
