7th Annual Bulle Rock Turkey Trot, Nov. 28
On Thanksgiving morning, Havre de Grace-area residents can burn off some calories before the big feast and raise money for a great cause by participating in the 7th Annual Bulle Rock Turkey Trot benefiting the Susquehanna Hose Company. Open to the public for all age groups and fitness levels, the 5K run and 1-mile walk will occur Thursday, Nov. 28, at the Residents’ Club at The Residences at Bulle Rock (1200 Bulle Rock Pkwy.). Registration will begin at 8 a.m., a warm- up will occur at 8:45 and the races will kick off at 9:00. The 5K course will weave through The Residences at Bulle Rock and Bulle Rock Golf Course on paved roads and paths. A costumed turkey will greet participants and cheer them on at the finish line. Harford Chabad, an organization that provides services to the Jewish population throughout the county, will be hosting a menorah lighting ceremony in Shamrock Park at 5pm on December 1st, 2013 immediately following the Christmas Parade. Some refreshments will be provided, along with various family activities and prizes. The theme of this year’s ceremony is Bring Light to People’s Lives. Harford Chabad is encouraging people to bring items for SARC’s pantry which will be collected at the event. Items such as flatware, aluminum foil, dustpans, bath towels, socks, washcloths, hairbrushes, vacuums, glue, DVDs, DVD players, tensions rods for curtains, umbrellas, sneakers, ethnic hair care products, and Xbox and Playstation 4 video games. The Board of Education of Harford County is seeking applications from interested county citizens to fill an opening on the school system’s Ethics Panel. The Ethics Panel reviews inquiries concerning potential violations of ethics on the part of school employees or Board members, provides advisory opinions regarding ethics issues and receives financial disclosure forms required to be filed by Board members and certain Board employees. Ethics Panel members serve for a term of five years, appointed at staggered intervals. Members are appointed by the Board of Education and may serve two full terms. The Susquehanna Museum at the Lock House Holiday Weekend is coming up Dec. 7 & 8 at the museum, 817 Conesteo St., Havre de Grace.
