Things to do this weekend around Bel Air include the 7th Annual Bulle Rock Turkey Trot to benefit the Susquehanna Hose Company on Thanksgiving morning, the 8th annual CCA Festival of Trees on Saturday and the 24th Annual Town of Bel Air Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting on Sunday.

7th Annual Bulle Rock Turkey Trot, Nov. 28

On Thanksgiving morning, Havre de Grace-area residents can burn off some calories before the big feast and raise money for a great cause by participating in the 7th Annual Bulle Rock Turkey Trot benefiting the Susquehanna Hose Company. Open to the public for all age groups and fitness levels, the 5K run and 1-mile walk will occur ThursdayNov. 28, at the Residents’ Club at The Residences at Bulle Rock (1200 Bulle Rock Pkwy.). Registration will begin at 8 a.m., a warm- up will occur at 8:45 and the races will kick off at 9:00. The 5K course will weave through The Residences at Bulle Rock and Bulle Rock Golf Course on paved roads and paths. A costumed turkey will greet participants and cheer them on at the finish line. 8th annual CCA Festival of Trees, Nov. 30

The 8th annual CCA Festival of Trees will be held Sunday, November 30,10 – 6pm and Sunday, December 1, 10-4pm at the Bel Air Armory. 24th Annual Town of Bel Air Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting Dec. 1

The Town of Bel Air Christmas parade and festivities begin at 2:45 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1 with a concert on Courtland Street. The parade begins at 3:30 p.m. at the corner of Main Street and Churchville Road and will proceed north to Lee Street where it will turn right and end on Hickory Avenue. Immediately following the parade, there will be Seasonal Music, Bonfire, Caroling, Hot Chocolate, Cookies and Santa Claus in Shamrock Park, along with a Tree Lighting and Menorah Lighting.  Scheduled to appear:  Stilt-walkers and acrobats; local high school marching bands; costumed characters and mascots; beauty queens; performance units, dancers, floats and musical groups and even some special equestrian guests, ending with The Living Christmas Tree and Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus! The Celebration will be CANCELLED in the event of serious weather, including excessive cold.  In the event that occurs, cancellation will be announced on WXCY-FM  103.7, WAMD-AM 680 and on WBAL-AM 1090 on Sunday, December 1st, 12:00 pm.  There is no make-up date. Menorah lighting ceremony in Shamrock Park, Dec. 1

Harford Chabad, an organization that provides services to the Jewish population throughout the county, will be hosting a menorah lighting ceremony in Shamrock Park at 5pm on December 1st, 2013 immediately following the Christmas Parade. Some refreshments will be provided, along with various family activities and prizes. The theme of this year’s ceremony is Bring Light to People’s Lives. Harford Chabad is encouraging people to bring items for SARC’s pantry which will be collected at the event. Items such as flatware, aluminum foil, dustpans, bath towels, socks, washcloths, hairbrushes, vacuums, glue, DVDs, DVD players, tensions rods for curtains, umbrellas, sneakers, ethnic hair care products, and Xbox and Playstation 4 video games. Pets with Santa, Sunday, Dec. 1

Jarrettsville Veterinary Center is hosting a Pets with Santa event on Sunday, December 1 from 12 – 4 p.m. at 3961 Norrisville Road in Jarrettsville.  Get your pet’s picture taken with Santa and help support No Kill Harford.  Take your own photo or have professional photos taken for donation.  Your furry friends want to see Santa too!! Deadline for Board of Education of Harford County Ethics Panel applicants, Dec. 6

The Board of Education of Harford County is seeking applications from interested county citizens to fill an opening on the school system’s Ethics Panel. The Ethics Panel reviews inquiries concerning potential violations of ethics on the part of school employees or Board members, provides advisory opinions regarding ethics issues and receives financial disclosure forms required to be filed by Board members and certain Board employees. Ethics Panel members serve for a term of five years, appointed at staggered intervals. Members are appointed by the Board of Education and may serve two full terms. Ethics Panel members serve without compensation but are reimbursed for travel and other expenses related to their service. Susquehanna Museum at the Lock House Holiday Weekend, Dec. 7 & 8

The Susquehanna Museum at the Lock House Holiday Weekend is coming up Dec. 7 & 8 at the museum, 817 Conesteo St., Havre de Grace. The annual Christmas Boutique is being organized by the Lock House Ladies and will be held at the Lock House Museum between 9 am and 3 pm on Saturday December 7th and from noon to 6 pm on Sunday December 8th. You will find the spirit of the Christmas season here. Handcrafted gifts and decorations will be found, along with fresh loose greens, swags, centerpieces, and table arrangements. Edgewood Library celebrates 50 years with open house Dec. 9

The Edgewood Library will celebrate 50 years of service to the community with a special open house on Monday, December 9th. Bike MS: Chesapeake Challenge 2014 in Easton, MD May 31 – June 1, 2014

Participants will enjoy the quaint, scenic, waterfront communities of Tolghman Island, Oxford, St. Michaels and Trappe. After enjoying lunch along Saturday’s routes, cyclists will ride on the Oxford Bellevue ferry to continue cycling along the routes. Chesapeake Challenge is fully supported with rest stops every 7-15 miles stocked with snacks, ice cold drinks, and cheering volunteers. All along the routes you’ll find Support and Gear vehicles, professional medical volunteers and bike mechanics to keep you going to the finish line. Complimentary meals beginning Saturday breakfast through Sunday lunch are provided to all participants and volunteers. Be sure to join us for a fun Saturday night themed party where we honor our top teams and individuals.
