Bel Air holiday light aficionado Jim Kurtz has taken his formerly residential display to the grounds of St. Matthew Lutheran Church again this year and helped Pastor Blaise Sedney design a showpiece of 43,000 lights synchronized to holiday music. Here are the details:

Bel Air, MD – Again for 2014, St Matthew Lutheran Church will be providing a free, 20-minute long, lighted display of 43,000 festive Christmas lights synchronized to holiday music, including The Greatest Story Ever Told. To view a small sample of last year’s display, feel free to check out a YouTube video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJpfYaWdMDs#t=51.

Pastor Blaise Sedney, working with local Bel Air resident, Jim Kurtz, designed a display of lights that are synchronized to holiday music which can be heard on your car radio as you drive past the display. Installation of the light display at the SMLC campus was a multi-week effort throughout all of November with volunteer work provided by approximately fifty (50) St. Matthew parishioners and friends. The display is located on the side of the SMLC campus facing away from Rt 22. Drivers should use the main entrance on Churchville Road at the intersection of Brierhill Drive across from the Walgreens pharmacy. As you drive through, St. Matthew’s will be accepting food or cash donations to their Food Pantry. Weather permitting, the display will begin on Friday, November 28, and run through Wednesday, December 31, 2014. Operating hours run are every night starting at 6:00 pm and ending at 10:00 pm (Sunday through Thursday) and 11:00pm (Friday and Saturday), except for a few nights when the display times will be adjusted to accommodate other church functions. To check the current schedule, call 410- 838-3178 or visit www.smlc.org.

Visitors are invited to bring a non-perishable food item or cash donation to support the church’s food pantry, an ongoing ministry for our community that offers assistance to those in need.
