St. Matthew Lutheran Church Christmas Festival of Lights is Nov. 28-Dec. 31
Bel Air holiday light aficionado Jim Kurtz has taken his formerly residential display to the grounds of St. Matthew Lutheran Church again this year and helped Pastor Blaise Sedney design a showpiece of 43,000 lights synchronized to holiday music. Weather permitting, the display will begin on Friday, November 28, and run through Wednesday, December 31, 2014. Operating hours run are every night starting at 6:00 pm and ending at 10:00 pm (Sunday through Thursday) and 11:00pm (Friday and Saturday), except for a few nights when the display times will be adjusted to accommodate other church functions. The 25th Annual Bel Air Christmas Parade and celebration begins with an outdoor band concert from 2:30 – 3:30 pm, Dec. 7 on the steps of the Harford County Courthouse on Main Street, by the Route 66 Band. The Parade steps off at 3:30 pm, with the same route as before: from the Oyster House Restaurant down to Lee Street, then right on Lee Street to Har-Co Credit Union. All are then invited to Shamrock Park, where the Bel Air Community Band is playing music of the season in the Humbert Band Shell, and free hot chocolate and cookies will be given out to all (while they last!). A cheery bonfire will also occur, and the entire event ends with the lighting of the Bel Air Town Christmas Tree, around 4:50 pm.
