Torrence M. Pierce to succeed Craig A. Ward as president of Bel Air’s Frederick Ward, Associates, Inc.


Torrence M. Pierce is to succeed Craig A. Ward as president of Bel Air’s Frederick Ward, Associates, Inc. the company announced. Here are the details:




Frederick Ward, Associates, Inc. (FWA), a Bel Air based civil engineering, architectural and land surveying firm, has named Torrence M. Pierce, PE, president of the company effective January 1, 2015. Mr. Pierce will succeed Craig A. Ward, PE, AICP, who is retiring from daily activities with the firm, will remain active on the board of directors and in an advisory and consultant role with FWA. Mr. Ward will continue his outside community leadership positions at the Greater Baltimore Committee and the Bel Air Downtown Alliance.


Mr. John V. Mettee, IV, Prof. LS, will succeed Mr. Pierce as senior vice president in addition to his role as director of surveying.  Mr. Theodore Jasinski, AIA, NCARB, CGP will continue as vice president/director of architecture. William T. Baker Jr., PE will remain executive vice president and continue his leadership role in the engineering department.


Mr. Pierce has been with FWA for 30 years, increasing his roles to rise to vice president of engineering services in 2004. He graduated from University of Delaware in 1984 with a Bachelor’s of Science in civil engineering and became a Maryland licensed engineer in 1989. Mr. Mettee took over the surveying department in early 2014 after being with the company for 15 years and has been a Maryland licensed professional land surveyor since 2009. Mr. Pierce succeeds Craig A. Ward as president who took the helm from David S. Wang in 2004, who succeeded the company’s founder, Frederick Y. Ward, upon his retirement in 1993.
