Harford County’s Center for the Arts annual “Dancing for the Arts” Gala, Nov. 21

Sixteen ordinary Harford County residents, including two high school students, will be transformed into graceful ballroom dancers as they compete in Harford County’s Center for the Arts annual “Dancing for the Arts” Gala.  The gala takes place Saturday, November 21 from 6:30-11:30 p.m. at the Maryland Golf and Country Club, with all proceeds benefitting the non-profit organization that is working to build a home for the arts in Harford County. For the first time, Center for the Arts will also present a matinee performance on Saturday, November 21 from 2:00-3:30 p.m. in addition to the preview that is also open to the public, on Friday, November 20 at 6:30 p.m. For details, visit

On Thanksgiving morning, Harford County area residents and runners alike can burn off calories before the big feast and raise money for a great cause by participating in the 9th Annual Bulle Rock Turkey Trot benefiting the Susquehanna Hose Company. Open to the public for all age groups and fitness levels, the 5K run and 1-mile walk will occur Thursday, Nov. 26, at the Residents’ Club at The Residences at Bulle Rock (1200 Bulle Rock Pkwy.) in Havre de Grace. Chesapeake Cancer Alliance’s Festival of Trees is coming up this weekend at the Bel Air Armory. The event to benefit Cancer LifeNet at the Patricia D. and M. Scot Kaufman Cancer Center begins Nov. 27 with a “Wine Down Preview Party and Social” from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Armory, 37 N. Main St. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door. 26th Annual Town of Bel Air Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting Celebration, Dec. 6

The 26th Annual Town of Bel Air Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting Celebration is Dec. 6. The event begins at 2:30 p.m. with a concert in front of the courthouse on Main Street. The parade starts at 3:30 p.m. on Main Street and ends with a community bonfire and sing-a-long at Shamrock Park with free cookies and hot chocolate. The tree at Town Hall will be lit at 4:45 p.m. In the case of bad weather, the event will be cancelled and not rescheduled. For details, visit

Regular Meeting of the Maryland Commission on African American History and Culture at Hosanna School Museum, Dec. 7

On Monday December 7, 2015, Hosanna School Museum will host the Regular Meeting of the Maryland Commission on African American History and Culture (MCAAHC). One of the primary purposes of the meeting is to inform the community of funding opportunities for preservation projects. Founded in 1969 as the Maryland Commission on Negro History and Culture, the MCAAHC has been committed to discovering, documenting, preserving, collecting, and promoting Maryland’s African American heritage. Harford Dance Theatre to hold auditions for Peter Pan, Dec. 13

Harford Dance Theatre will hold auditions for Peter Pan on Sunday, December 13, at 10 AM in the Chesapeake Center on the Harford Community College campus. Registration begins at 9:30 AM. Auditions for Peter Pan voice-overs will be held the same day beginning at 1:30 PM. Scripts will be provided. Sheila Kahle will direct this production. All roles are open; dancers 11 years of age and older may audition. Participants should wear appropriate dance attire and bring dance shoes.
