Upper Chesapeake Primary Care’s Dr. Robert Ishak has been elected a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. Here are the details:
UPPER CHESAPEAKE HEALTH PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN ELECTED A FELLOW OF THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF PHYSICIANS
Dr. Robert Ishak, an internal medicine physician with Upper Chesapeake Primary Care, has been elected a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, the society of internists. The distinction recognizes achievements in internal medicine, the specialty of adult medical care.
Dr. Ishak was elected upon the recommendation of peers and the review of ACP’s Credentials Subcommittee. He may now use the letters “FACP” after his name in recognition of this honor.

Sheldon, president and CEO of University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health (UM UCH). “Recognition from one’s peers is a high honor, and University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health is fortunate to have him as part of our primary care team. Improving the health of the community is something for which we all strive, and Dr. Ishak is an important advocate for patients in coordinating the use of the health care system to benefit their needs.”
Dr. Ishak is board certified in internal medicine and serves patients at the practice in Bel Air. He received his medical degree from New York Medical College. Dr. Ishak served two internships, one at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia and another one at St. Vincent Hospital and Medical Center in New York, where he completed his residency.
He has been on staff at UM UCH since June 2009. Prior to that, he practiced in New Jersey for nine years.
Dr. Ishak grew up in Harford County, where he currently resides with his wife and two children. In addition to his busy practice, Dr. Ishak serves as the medical director of Occupational Health Services at UM UCH and is on the board of directors of the University of Maryland Community Medical Group.
The American College of Physicians is the second-largest physician group in the United States. Membership includes more than 137,000 internists, related subspecialists and medical students. Internists are specialists in the prevention, detection and treatment of illnesses in adults.
