Looking for a good haunted house this Halloween season? Our area has several places sure to scare you. Most are a bit too scary for younger children, but they often offer less frightening activities for them like hay rides and corn mazes. I’ve put together a list of a few places I found below. If you have one you’d like me to add, please leave a comment below and let me know.

Legends of the Fog

Legends of the Fog is perhaps the best known frightening attraction in Harford County. The Barberry family turned portion of their 800-acre family farm into a fright fest complete with a 6-acre corn maze, a pumpkin patch and a haunted hay ride. The haunted hayride, where creatures leap from behind cornstalks, is not recommended for children younger than 13. But the younger children can enjoy corn maze, a pumpkin patch, a milder wagon ride, live music and seasonal snacks. Legends of the Fog is at 500 Carsins Run Road, Aberdeen. Open Fridays and Saturdays through Nov. 6, plus Oct. 14, 24 and 28. Tickets $6-$25.

Huber’s Farm in Kingsville is home to Creepywoods Haunted Forest. The Creepywoods Haunted Forest is an outdoor attraction where visitors walk a haunted trail and meet monsters, live actors and frightening special effects. The haunted trail isn’t for young children, but the farm offers daytime activities for them including a Huber’s Family Haunted Hayride. Kim’s Crypt is the brainchild of a woman who fell in love with fright as a child visiting Disney World’s Haunted Mansion. This year’s crypt is located at the Merritt Park Shopping Center, 1748 Merritt Blvd. in Dundalk. Open Friday-Sunday through October, plus Oct. 28. Tickets $8-$13.  For more information call 410-391-7726 or visit www.kimscrypt.com.
