Halloween is just about here, so I’ve put together this list of places where your kids can trick or treat this weekend. Harford County and its municipalities are planning to see trick or treating on Sunday night and they have suggested hours and safety tips. There are several places you could take your kids trick or treating on Saturday and several churches are offering “trunk and treat” events in their parking lots where treats are distributed from the backs of cars. Here’s my list. If you know of some other trick or treat events I missed, please let me know in the comments below!

Saturday, Oct. 30

Bel Air Downtown Alliance offers Trick-or-Treating in Downtown Bel Air noon to 3 p.m. Oct. 30

The Downtown Bel Air Alliance invites you to Trick-or-Treating in Downtown Bel Air, 12pm-3pm on Saturday, October 30th. Bring the kids Downtown to visit our shops & restaurants so they can fill your bags full of delicious Halloween treats! Look for the orange balloons outside participating stores and restaurants.

Halloween Costume Parade and Contest at the Festival at Bel Air Oct. 30

Bring your kids to the 22nd annual Halloween Costume Parade and Contest at the Festival at Bel Air in Harford County on Saturday, October 30th, 2010, at 10 am! It’s TOTALLY FREE! All kids who dress up and march in the parade get candy AND trick-or-treat bags. The event features live music, cash prizes for best costumes, and a SPECIAL $250 CASH PRIZE RANDOMLY DRAWN from all attendees! WXCY-FM RADIO PERSONALITY DAVE HOVEL will be judging costumes, and kids and parents can sign up to win different FREE items from merchants at the Festival at Bel Air, including a free kids bike from Contée’s Bikes & Fitness. Best of all, every child is invited to trick or treat participating stores at the Festival at Bel Air shopping center afterwards, until 2 pm! The 22nd annual Festival at Bel Air Halloween Costume Parade is held rain or shine on Saturday, October 30th in the parking lot in front of CHUCK E. CHEESE’S.  LINE-UP starts at 9:30 am, and the parade and judging is at 10 am sharp! The Festival at Bel Air is located on Route 24 at Bel Air South Parkway in Harford County, just a mile and a half from I-95 Exit 77B. Trunk N Treat at Mountain Christian

Trunk N Treat at Mountain Christian Church Saturday, Oct. 30 from 4-6pm in the New Life Center parking lot: Calling all kids up to 5th grade (and family & friends too)! Come to Trunk or Treat for a fantastic night of fun! You’ll travel through designated areas of the parking lot to visit decorated cars and collect a bunch of treats. And the coolest thing is this – you get to do this with your friends! So be sure to invite everyone you know to join in the festivities. All kids should bring a bag for collecting candy and are encouraged to wear fun costumes (nothing scary please). Click here for details.
Sunday, Oct. 31

Trick or Treat hours

The Harford County Sheriff’s Office recommends that children trick or treat between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 31. Several county municipalities have posted their own trick or treat hours:
City of Aberdeen – 5 to 8pm
Town of Bel Air – 6 to 8pm
City of Havre de Grace – 6 – 8pm
The State Highway Administration is lending out reflective vests for children to wear while trick-or-treating so they’ll be more visible to cars when crossing the street and walking in the roadway. The vests will be available  the Churchville Shop, 3050 Churchville Road, on Wednesday, October 28; Thursday, October 29 and Friday, October 30 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day. Click here for a list of vest lending locations statewide. Reflective vests will be issued on a first come, first served basis. Vests must be returned by Friday, November 6. Trunk or Treat at Oak Grove Baptist Church

Trunk or Treat at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 2106 Churchville Rd., Bel Air, on Sunday from 5-7pm, plus games, a hay maze, and food – all free (http://www.oakgrovebaptist.com/church/?p=1243)
Trunk or Treat at Sovereign Grace Church

Sovereign Grace Church is hosting a community Trunk or Treat on Sunday evening, Oct. 31 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. This free event is a safe and fun way to spend Halloween night visiting cars decorated and filled with candy and treats. The event is to include a moon bounce, face painting and entertainment. Dress your children in their favorite costume and join the fun. For more information, visit http://www.sovgracemd.net/.
