Harford County Public Library names Daria Parry as its new Associate Director

Daria Parry joins Harford County Public Library as Associate Director

The Harford County Public Library sent along this news of its new Associate Director:

(Belcamp, Maryland– February 23, 2011)  Effective January 12, 2011 Daria A. Parry became the new Associate Director at Harford County Public Library.  Daria has extensive background in libraries. She previously held the position of Chief, Public Libraries and State Networking Branch for the Maryland State Department of Education. Prior to this position, Ms. Parry has also held the positions of Agency Manager in the Montgomery County Public Library (Maryland), Director of Library Services at Bates Technical College in Tacoma, Washington, Community Access and Facilities Manager for the Eugene Public Library in Oregon, and Manager, Division of Central Library Services for the Lee County Library System in Florida. Additionally, Ms. Parry is an active member of the Phi Kappa Pi Honor Society; American Library Association; Public Library Association; and the Maryland Library Association.

“I am thrilled to be part of Harford County Public Library.  Having worked at the state level on behalf of our Maryland public libraries for the last four-and-half years, I have had the distinct pleasure of observing the success and progress of this innovative and customer-focused library system, and now to be a part of it, is an absolute delight,” stated Ms. Parry.  “I look forward to serving the citizens of the Harford County community for years to come.”

Ms. Parry has a Master of Arts in Library and Information Science from the University of Florida in Tampa. She also earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Rhode Island in Kingston.

Harford County Public Library operates eleven branches located throughout Harford County, Maryland. The library serves over 210,000 registered borrowers of all ages and has an annual circulation of almost 4,700,000.
