Hurricane Irene looks like it could bring us a stormy weekend here in Bel Air. The latest forecast from the National Weather Service calls for a pleasant day with highs in the 80s Friday, followed by showers and thunderstorms Saturday and Sunday. The area is under a flash flood watch and “Hazardous Weather Outlook.”
The latest hurricane forecasts are showing a trajectory that takes to the storm up the East Coast and through an area that looks to bring us some of its stormy weather. The www.delawareonline.com website is reporting that the “newly updated National HurricaneCenter track for Hurricane Irene now shows the storm center raking the Delaware and Maryland coastline early Sunday as a Category 2 storm, potentially making it the state’s closest pass by a full-force hurricane.”
The Harford County Division of Emergency Operations has an official hurricane guide to help residents prepare for and weather a storm. Click here to see the document: http://www.harfordpublicsafety.org/Download/1410.pdf
According to a report in The Baltimore Sun: “The Town of Ocean City enacted Phase I of its emergency plan, asking beachgoers and vacationers to postpone any trips to the beach until the situation improves.”
