2nd annual Dominator 5/10K walk & run Sept. 3
The 2nd annual Dominator 5/10 K Walk & Run to raise money for childhood cancer research is scheduled Sept. 3. The race supports the D.O. Believe Foundation, created in memory of Dominic Manuel Osorio, a 7-year-old Bel Air boy, who lost his battle with brain cancer in 2009. The 5K starts at 8 a.m. and the 10 K starts at 9 p.m. at Blue Dot Services, 125 Industry Lane in Forest Hill. Cost for the 5K is $25 if you pre-register adn $30 on race day. Cost for the 10K is $30 if you pre-register and $35 on race day. All participants receive a race shirt and gift bag and prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers. Dr. Jacqueline C. Haas HCPS Educator Hall of Fame induction, Sept. 26
During the Board of Education meeting on Monday, September 26, 2011, Dr. Jacqueline C. Haas will be posthumously inducted into the HCPS Educator Hall of Fame for her 36-year tenure with HCPS as a dedicated special education teacher, helping teacher, assistant principal, principal, assistant superintendent and superintendent. The induction ceremony will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Board room at the A.A. Roberty Building. In addition, the ceremony and Board meeting will be aired via live stream on the school system website at www.hcps.org. Elise’s Honor fundraiser to support First Candle, Oct. 15
Kelly Tagliaferri, whose daughter was stillborn in 2009, is working to bring awareness of pregnancy loss with an October fundraiser to support First Candle – a national voluntary health organization uniting parents, caregivers, and researchers nationwide with government, business and community service groups to advance fetal and infant health and survival. The event called Elise’s Honor, in remembrance of Kelly’s daughter, is 5:30 to 8:30 Saturday, Oct. 15 at MacGregor’s Restaurant, 331 St. John St., Havre de Grace. Tickets are $30 for adults, $15 for children age 3-10 and free for children under 3. Entertainment will be provided by DJ Davey B from ProProductions DJ.
