APG  Civilian and Spouses’ Club Ice Cream Social Membership Kickoff, Sept. 16

The Aberdeen Proving Ground Military, Civilian and Spouses’ Club invites the community to attend its membership kickoff September 16th from 5 to 9 p.m. at Broom’s Bloom Dairy on MD 534 in Bel Air.  The informal family-friendly evening will feature live music, door prizes and a quilt raffle.   New and renewing members  will receive a free small ice cream.  The club’s mission is to raise funds in support of scholarship and charitable requests from Aberdeen Proving Ground and local community organizations, all while encouraging members to develop relationships with each other as well as the surrounding community.  BRAC families are encouraged to come and meet new friends.  Reservations not required.  For information about joining the club, contact Gerry Reno at 410-642-3080 or


Hope in Handbags event to benefit Harford Family House, Sept. 15-17

The silent auction at the Bel Air Armory takes place 5 pm – 8 pm Thursday, Sept. 15 and Friday, Sept. 16. Saturday hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 17. Proceeds benefit Harford Family House and Harford Habitat for Humanity. A unique event to benefit Harford Family House and Welcome One Emergency Shelter (FCCAU). The second annual Purse Auction held in September 2010 raised more than $24,000 to benefit these organizations.

Elise’s Honor  fundraiser to support First Candle, Oct. 15

Kelly Tagliaferri, whose daughter was stillborn in 2009, is working to bring awareness of pregnancy loss with an October fundraiser to support First Candle – a national voluntary health organization uniting parents, caregivers, and researchers nationwide with government, business and community service groups to advance fetal and infant health and survival. The event called Elise’s Honor, in remembrance of Kelly’s daughter, is 5:30 to 8:30 Saturday, Oct. 15 at MacGregor’s Restaurant, 331 St. John St., Havre de Grace. 5th Annual Harford Fall Festival, Oct. 15

5th Annual Harford Fall Festival, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15 at the Harford County Equestrian Center, 608 N. Tollgate Rd., Bel Air. This annual event is an old-fashioned country fair; a very family-oriented, budget-friendly community event! There are many games and attractions, a car show, pony and hay rides, crafts and vendors, scrumptious food booth and a variety of incredible musical talents on 3 stages!
