Downtown Bel Air is losing a bank branch. PNC Bank has announced it will be closing its Bel Air North Branch at 140 N. Main St. at 3 p.m. Friday, June 15.
In a letter to customers, it offered this explanation:
“…we constantly study the effectiveness of our branches based upon their physical capacity and the number of customers frequenting each location. With this in mind, and after a careful evaluation of our respective branch locations, the Bel Air – North branch located at 140 North Main Street, Bel Air, MD will close and be combined into the nearby Bel Air – South branch located at 130 South Bond Street, Bel Air, MD.”
The closing branch is the smaller of the two downtown branches. It sits on the triangular parcel at the entrance to downtown where Main Street and Bond Streets split.
