Mildred Kreider Receives Conservation Award at Harford Land Trust Annual Meeting

[Bel Air, MD] May 16, 2013 – The Harford Land Trust (HLT) honored former board member Mildred Krieder with its Conservation Award at its annual meeting held March 16, 2013 at the Bel Air Armory.

The award cites Kreider’s personal support of the founding of HLT, years of serving on the Board of Directors, generous financial support of projects and administrative costs and efforts to conserve in perpetuity the historical and natural resources of Little Jericho Farm, owned by she and her late husband, Sidney Krieder since 1975.

A longtime Harford County resident, Kreider served on the original HLT Board of Directors through 2002 and according to Executive Director Peg Niland has remained a dedicated supporter. “We were honored to present Mildred with this year’s Conservation Award,” Niland says. “For years, she and her husband allowed the HLT to set up an office rent-free in an apartment adjoining their main barn on their property. For this we graciously thank them.”

HLT board members and committee chairs also shared 2012 financial, membership and land accomplishments with 66 attendees at the annual meeting, which featured a keynote presentation from Joyce Browning of Bay-Wide Gardening and the University of Maryland Extension Service. HLT Board President Harry V. Webster, Jr. also addressed the crowd of supporters, saying, “The HLT mission is one of action and planning, learning and teaching, giving and sharing responsibility. At this meeting we look to inspire our supporters to help us with the next lands project, to participate at our next outreach event or fundraiser, to become our next passionate volunteer or board member. We want you to believe in our mission, to contribute and to make a positive difference in our community.”
