U.S. Taekwondo Academy hosts Sip & Paint fundraiser for Harford Family House, March 12

U.S. Taekwondo Academy is organizing a charity Sip & Paint event from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. March 12 at Main Street Tower, 29 South Main Street in Bel Air. Tickets are $35 per person. All proceeds will go to the Harford Family House. The organizers will also be accepting new and gently-loved formal dresses, purses and accessories to benefit the Rapha House. The Finding YOUR Future Education Conference, sponsored by the Greater Excellence in Education Foundation (GEEF), will be held Saturday, March 21, 2015, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Edgewood High School. Registration is now open for SARC’s “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” men’s march to stop rape, sexual assault and gender violence. The event begins at 9:30 a.m. with the walk itself starting at 11 a.m. April 25 in downtown Bel Air. This year’s goal is to raise $50,000. To register, visit

 “American Civil War Day”  at Southampton Middle School, April 25

The Southampton Middle School (SMS) is hosting “American Civil War Day” on Saturday, April 25, from 1:45 p.m. to 7 p.m.  This fundraiser for the Civil War Trust will include speakers, music, a silent auction, and various demonstrations.  Food and drinks will be available for purchase including from local vendors Chick-Fil-A and Smoothie King.  As of June 2014, SMS has donated $27,000 to the Civil War Trust — the third-highest total donated in the U.S. by a public school. In addition to raising money for the Civil War Trust, the SMS will also be holding a donation drive to collect items that could go in care packages to support our current troops.  Donated items can include snacks, drinks, toiletries, etc.  (Refer to any military support non-profit website for a list of suggested items to donate.)  Donations will be collected in the SMS Cafeteria on the day of the American Civil War Day event.

The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region (The Arc NCR), a non-profit organization that provides services to families and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, will host the third annual Harford Hills Bike Adventure on Saturday, April 25, 2015. This year’s ride is starting and ending at a new location: the Towson University in Northeastern Maryland building on Thomas Run Road.
