Bel Air News & Views is 10 years old today! Thank you readers for keeping what started as an experimental blog for neighborhood news going for a full decade. As readership grew, Bel Air News & Views switched to WordPress, got some professional help and became a full-fledged business in 2010. It joined Facebook and its page there now has 9,873 followers. Thank you for being part of this community!

For the sake of nostalgia, I looked back and found the very first post that kicked off this journey 10 years ago today:

Welcome to Bel Air News & Views a collection of local news, advice and opinions about Bel Air, Md. I’m Stacey Alatzas, a journalist and mother of two spending most of my time toting the kids in and out of Blockbuster and the library, figuring out where is the best place to feed the kids between swim class and baseball, which summer camps are worth trying and how much I should worry about the shopping center planned to be built next to my son’s elementary school. I figure I’m not alone in mulling how to make life work here and thought I’d open this blog to share thoughts and solicit advice from others. The best resources are those folks who are battling your same battles. So let’s share information. It will it make managing life so much easier.

Those kids I mention are now just about ready for college and high school, the shopping center turned out okay and we Netflix now, but other than that, Bel Air News & Views has stayed pretty close to its original mission.

Thanks for reading! I couldn’t have done it without you!
